Eating Disorder Therapy
Helping you regain a healthy relationship with food, weight, exercise, and body image.
Maybe you’ve done countless diets and yet the weight on the scale continues to increase, or perhaps you’ve lost weight but feel dissatisfied with your body and think its “not good enough”. You may be questioning what you’re “doing wrong” or becoming discouraged after continued failure. Either way, you’re feeling stuck in this endless negative cycle confused about what to do next.
Maybe you’re noticing:
You feel guilty after eating “bad” or “unhealthy” food
You spend way too much time worrying about your appearance or weight
Your mood for the day is determined by the number on the scale
You avoid certain activities or places because of the way you look
Or maybe you’ve experienced:
Periods of restricting or binging your food
The urge to throw up your meal, or compensate for a “guilty” meal with excessive exercise
Moments in which you feel totally out of control around food, and eat well past fullness
Countless diets that lead to frustration, failure, and minimal weight loss
Are you overwhelmed by the constant preoccupation with food, calories, weight, and body image?
Life can feel different than the way it does today.
Individual eating disorder therapy can help.
It may feel impossible right now, but you can have a healthy relationship with food! You can let go of the unrealistic standards that haunt you on social media. You can say goodbye to those restrictive and (let’s be honest) distasteful diets. You can feel confident in who you are as a person and your body image. We’ll work together to heal your relationship with food and the body.
I can help you get there.
Recovery - We’ll identify emotional triggers that contribute to disordered eating, such as stress, anxiety, or depression and establish healthier coping mechanisms to reduce unwanted behaviors.
Regaining a sense of control and normalize eating. We will challenge negative thoughts and beliefs that promote eating disorders. You will break free from rigid food rules and restore a healthy view of exercise.
Rebuilding - Together we will work towards rebuilding trust with the body through intuitive eating techniques. I help you learn how to listen to your body’s cues rather than trying to control or ignore them.
ReShaping your body and self image. We will talk about how negative experiences related to your body image or eating habits have impacted you and address ways to improve self-esteem, so that you can feel confident!
Together we’ll work on:
Identify and process emotional factors associated with disordered eating
Develop effective coping skills to better manage your emotions
Create a healthier view and integrated relationship with your body
Feel empowered and confident to live a life authentic to your values

FAQS
Common Questions about Eating Disorder Therapy
-
Therapy is a individualized journey and there's no singular way to treat eating disorders. Many people benefit from a combination of different treatments including individual, group, and family-based therapy. I use a combination of the following:
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
Exposure therapy (ERP)

While online therapy can be effective, some individuals prefer in-person sessions for various reasons, such as needing a stronger personal connection or a structured environment. I personally prefer in-person sessions when working with clients that have eating disorders but it’s important to choose the format that feels right and most comfortable for you.
-
The duration of treatment varies widely depending on the individual and the severity of the disorder. Some may see improvement in a few months, while others may require years of ongoing support.
-
Need is a strong word! Most of the time a multidisciplinary approach that includes medical and nutritional support is essential for effective treatment of eating disorders. However, we can discuss whether this would be beneficial for you specifically during the first appointment.
-
Yes, group therapy can provide support, shared experiences, and a sense of community. It can be especially beneficial for individuals feeling isolated. I lead three different groups that can assist with individual eating disorder therapy. Check out my groups here.

Reach out today for a free 15-minute consultation phone call. On our call, I’ll ask you to give me a brief description of your circumstances and goals. I’ll answer any questions that you have about what it would be like to work with me.
We’ll then find a time that works in our schedules to meet in person (or virtually) for an intake assessment. From there, we’ll create our list of goals and determine how frequently we want to meet (usually weekly or biweekly).
